Basic Obedience Test and Certification

To complete Sirius K9 Training’s Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Obedience classes (and receive a certificate), your dog must be able to perform the following exercises using a voice command (or hand signal). Only two commands will be permitted (a hand signal counts as a command) per exercise during the exam (no corrections are allowed). Treats & toys are permitted at all levels as a reward AFTER completion of ALL the exercises (not during.) Treat aprons can not be worn during the test and no toys or treats are allowed on the handler during the test. Handlers will hang on to the end of the leash only, and the leash must remain loose the entire time. During the Basic exam, hand signals are not permitted, and you can not point, snap your fingers, or bend over. And during the heeling part of the exam, the end of the leash will be in your pocket or over your shoulder. Training collars are permitted during the basic exam. During the Intermediate exam, the leash will be the same as above, however, only a nylon or leather collar will be permitted. And during the Advanced exam, your dog will be off leash, however tabs are permitted. (Same collar as in the Intermediate exam will be worn.)
