Hello!
I wanted to update you on what's new at SIRIUS K9 ACADEMY!
We have new t-shirts coming in! Finally! We will post the available designs
shortly on our website. We also have vehicle decal stickers ordered for those of
you that have been asking! We have partnered with a local vendor that can now
also make ANY type of decal or sticker for your vehicle. You can see some
samples posted at our training facility. Please contact Adam Cowles directly for

Many of you will be excited to hear that our Intermediate & Advanced Obedience
Tests have changed! We updated our tests so that they are now geared more
towards companion, working, service, and therapy dogs. Check out the new tests
on our website!
Coming soon! We are adding a "Client Comment" page on our website and
would love to hear from you about your experiences at our facility with your
dog/s, your comments, and stories.
Also Coming soon! Our NEW "Client Photo Gallery". We are currently
working on adding many photos to our website. Unfortunately we got behind, but
are now beginning to catch up! So, if you have a great photo of your dog (head
shots are preferred in Jpeg format please) that you would like to have added to
our gallery, get it ready to upload when our online form is up in the next
couple weeks or so. Due to the large number of doggie "mug shots" on our site,
we are trying to update it with recent photos and current doggie students in our
intermediate & advanced obedience classes, and in our protection, narcotics
detection, and agility classes. In the "new" photo gallery, under each dog's
"mug shot" will be the dog's name, age, accomplishments, and the owner's name
and city they live in. Please be sure to include all the information when you
fill out the form. We will send out a notice when it's up!
We have added several new classes this year! Please be sure to check out all the
classes we have to offer below in our training schedule! A TIRED dog is a HAPPY
dog!

SPECIAL COURSES/EVENTS COMING SOON!
FORMAL STUDIO PORTRAITS - Serena Cryar is available to take formal
studio portraits at Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda. Formal Studio Portrait
Cost: $30. Sitting fee (which includes one free 5 x 7 print.) She can also take
informal pictures of your dog in action! Please contact Serena Cryar to schedule

REMOTE TRAINING COLLAR INTRODUCTION - This class will help you & your dog
understand the remote collar and will teach you how to use it properly on your
dog. This is a great training tool for when your dog is off-leash when used
correctly! This class will take place on Saturday (Date TBA Based on sign-ups)
(12:30pm 2:30pm) at Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda. Cost: $30. Space will be
limited, sign up early! Instructor: Caroline Haldeman. You will need to bring
your own remote collar and dog/s with at least basic obedience to this class.

BEGINNER DECOY SEMINAR - This introductory course will teach you how to read
and work protection dogs in the suit, on a sleeve or tug, and dogs in the
muzzle. You must be in good physical condition to attend this course! This class
will take place on Saturday (Date TBA in October) (1pm -5pm) at Sirius K9
Academy in Yorba Linda. Cost: $60. Space will be limited, sign up early!
Instructor: Caroline Haldeman. You may bring your own dog/s to this class.

PET FIRST AID / CPR CLASS - You never know when you will need it! If you own
a dog or cat, you owe it to them to take this class! This course will take place
on Saturday October 21st (12:30pm 4:30pm) at Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda.
Cost: $45. (Paid for in advance.) Sign up early! Class size will be limited.

PROTECTION DOG CERTIFICATION - Want to be challenged? Want something to show
for all your hard work? To pass our Protection Dog Certification, the
dog/handler team must successfully complete eight exercises off leash. Our next
certification will take place at our Costa Mesa location on Saturday (Date TBA
Based on sign-ups) (3pm 6pm.) Six dogs maximum, sign up early! Cost: $75.

SIRIUS K9 TRAINING CLASS SCHEDULE
ADVANCED PERSONAL PROTECTION TRAINING - (MONDAYS 7:30pm 9:30pm) BY
APPOINTMENT ONLY. Held in Costa Mesa. Instructor: Caroline Haldeman.
Prerequisite: Intermediate & Advanced protection dogs only. First timers must be
evaluated prior to attending this class (if your dog has never attended our
protection training before.) Your dog must be able to pass our Intermediate
Obedience Test and be working on a full suit. (Please note: Our Intermediate &
Advanced Obedience Tests have changed! Visit our website to see the new tests.)

BASIC NARCOTICS DETECTION COURSE - (MONDAYS and FRIDAYS 7pm 10pm)
(8-week class) Locations vary, however, most classes are held at Sirius K9
Academy in Yorba Linda. Does your dog have a really high play/toy drive? Looking
for something exciting & rewarding to do with your pet? Interested in starting a
new career with your dog? This is the class for you! This course will introduce
you and your dog to basic narcotics detection including building your dogs hunt
drive and search desire, expanding the dogs attention space, problem solving,
documentation, proofing, building credibility & confidence, drug identification,
safety, and more. A nationally recognized certification opportunity will be
offered upon graduation. Instructor: Ron Gaunt. Prerequisite: Dogs must be at
least 1 year old. All dogs are evaluated on the first day of class. You must
sign up for this class. Class start dates are subject to the number of dogs
enrolled. Limited space! (6 dog / handler teams max.) Cost: $1,250. (Total)

BASIC GROUP OBEDIENCE - (WEDNESDAYS 6:30pm 7:30pm / SUNDAYS 11am
12pm) (8-week Group Class.) Held at the Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda.
Instructor: Caroline Haldeman. Prerequisite: You must sign up for this class.
New classes begin on: Sunday = Sept. 3rd, & Oct. 29th. / Wednesday = Sept. 6th,
& Nov. 1st. Cost: $200. ** $50. off for dogs adopted from a shelter or rescue,
guide / service dogs in training, and for current Sirius personal protection
dogs! ** $25. off for current law enforcement, fire, & military personnel!

INTERMEDIATE GROUP OBEDIENCE - (WEDNESDAYS 8pm - 9pm / SATURDAYS 11am
12pm) Drop-in class. Held at Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda. You do not need
to sign up for this class, just show up! This is an on-going class that is great
for companion, working, service, & therapy dogs. Instructor: Caroline Haldeman.
Prerequisite: Your dog must be able to pass our Basic Obedience Test to attend

(Beginner Advanced) BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. On-going class. All breeds and ages
welcome! Instructor: Caroline Haldeman. Prerequisite: New dogs must be evaluated
prior to starting this class (if your dog has never attended our protection
training before.) Dogs over six months old must be able to pass our Basic
Obedience Test. (Visit our website to see the Basic Obedience Test.) Cost:
Beginner dogs & puppies working on a tug = $20. per session. / Dogs working on a
soft sleeve / leg sleeve = $30. per session / Dogs working on an intermediate
sleeve / full suit = $40. per session. Class will be held at 8am on = August
19th, September 2nd, 16th, & 30th / Class will be held at 9am on = August 5th,

FIELD TRIP GROUP OBEDIENCE CLASS - (Every other SATURDAY 5pm 6pm /
THURSDAY 7:30pm 8:30pm) (See class dates below.) BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Limited
class size. Meeting locations vary throughout Orange County. Instructor:
Caroline Haldeman. Cost: $25. This class will take you and your dog to
distracting locations including shopping centers, malls, parks, the beach, etc.
This class is great for companion, working, service, & therapy dogs.
Prerequisite: Your dog must be able to pass our Basic Obedience Test and have
attended at least 4 intermediate group obedience classes at our facility to
attend this class. (Visit our website to see the Basic Obedience Test.) Class
dates: Saturday = August 26th, September 9th & 23rd / Thursday = August 31st,

AGILITY - (SUNDAYS 9am - 10am / Every other THURSDAY 6:30pm 7:30pm) (See
class dates below) (Beginner Advanced) On-going class. BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
All breeds and ages welcome! This class is held at our outdoor location in Yorba
Linda. Instructor: Caroline Haldeman. Prerequisite: Your dog must be able to
pass our Basic Obedience Test to attend this class. This is a custom course like
no other! (See a picture of our field on our website and to see the Basic
Obedience Test.) This class is just for fun and to help build confidence in your
dog. Cost: $20. per session. Class dates: Thursday = August 10th, 24th,

ADVANCED NARCOTICS DETECTION - (SUNDAYS 3pm - 7pm) Locations vary, however,
most classes are held at Sirius K9 Academy. Instructor: Ron Gaunt. Prerequisite:
Your dog must already know the basic odors and have basic narcotic detection
skills. This is a drop-in class, and a continuation of the above basic course.
However, any new dog not evaluated by the instructor before, must be evaluated
first before attending this class. Cost: $50. per session. Please call

SCHUTZHUND TRAINING - (SUNDAYS 7pm 9pm) (Beginner Advanced.) BY
APPOINTMENT ONLY. Held in Costa Mesa. Instructor: Zoltan Nagy (Zoli). This class
covers Schutzhund sport protection work, obedience, and more. Cost: $30. per
session. (Cash only please.) Please note: Tracking is usually held early on
Saturday mornings. Please call Adam Cowles at 714-658-4721 for more details or

THERAPY DOG TESTING & CERTIFICATION - Held at Sirius K9 Academy in
Yorba Linda. By appointment. Prerequisite: Dogs must be at least 1 year old at
time of testing and can pass our basic obedience test. Please call 714-296-9714

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) TESTING & CERTIFICATION - By appointment. Held
at Sirius K9 Academy in Yorba Linda. Instructor: Amy Herot. Cost: $20. to test +
$5. for certificate ($25. total). (Visit our website to see the AKC CGC Test and
for more details.) We especially encourage ALL protection trained dogs and

We can provide IN-KENNEL TRAINING and BOARDING for your convenience!
However, please note: We limit our in-kennel & boarding dogs to a maximum of six
(6) dogs at any given time to minimize stress and to assure your dog gets plenty
of individual attention! You must sign up well in advance to assure your dog a
spot in one of our kennels.
Sirius K9 also offers individual (1) hour, (1/2) hour, private (individual)
& semi-private (small group) PRIVATE LESSONS in your home, at a local park, or
at our large indoor facility in Yorba Linda! Please contact us for more details.
